How do edit levels work?

What are Edit Levels/EHR Access Levels?

The Edit Level or "Access Level" is an internal naming structure that is used to designate a user's permissions within the EHR. Edit Levels/Access Levels do not necessarily indicate a user's actual degree or title.

How to change Edit Levels (Access Levels)

1. Click Settings in the top right corner of the EHR.

2. Select Users and click on the provider whose role you would like to change.

3. Within the Profile section, you change the "Access Level" assigned to the provider.

4.  Click Save to save your updates.




Please remember, this is just an internal naming structure. It is at your discretion whom you want to enable for which role.  If, for example, a nurse needs to be able to edit the body of a SOAP note, they would need at least the NP/PA designation; the 'Degree' field can be used to denote their actual title.


Edit levels (Access Levels) vs. Administrator permissions

The Administrator designation is independent of Edit Levels and should be granted to users within the practice who should have the ability to edit practice information. Admin rights deal with access to account maintenance and set up. It has no bearing on what patient information can be accessed. The Administrator of the account is typically the owner of the practice and has the ability to grant other users Admin rights as well.


How to grant Administrator permissions

1. Click Settings in the top right corner of the EHR.

2. Select Users and click on the provider whose role you would like to change.

3. Scroll down to Login Info.

4. Under Administrator access, you can determine if you want the provider to be an Admin or Non-admin.

5. Click Save to save your updates.
