Advanced Templates: Dropdown Menus, Checkboxes, and Lists
I'd like template items with drop downs. This might look something like
Heart rate: [regular][irregular][??]
Orientation: [Alert and oriented x4][Disoriented to ??]
etc.I would click on the line to add it to the chart just like with the current system. Using the heart rate line as an example, instead of typing "regular" I would tab to one of the three options (regular, irregular, or the option to type free text) and hit "enter" to produce the line with that option.
I think what most people are doing is something like this:
Heart rate: ??
Orientation: ??
etcThis makes…

Import Templates
The clinic i'm in made templates to use for patients outside of Practice Fusion. We would like to import these templates into PF without retyping every one of them.

Remove automatic periods from being added to template items
Can you remove the automatic periods that appear at the end of each template item? The concept of a template is to create a macro that can be customized to each user's preference. If you could make them user-customizable, that would be best.
54 votesI’m excited to announce that as of 7/31/2015, we have added this important customization feature to the EHR.

Additional Templates (instead of just for Chart Notes)
Need to be able to set up templates for the care plans - with Chronic Disease Management, so much of it is the same. Templates would be a real help.

Rich Text Formatting in Chart Note Templates
It would be great to create Templates with the options of headers, Indent, Bold, Italic, Bullets and Numbers. This will make charting easier.
Thanks!!
41 votesHi everyone—I am pleased to announce that we have released this time-saving feature to all Practice Fusion customers as of 8/4/2015.

Template Scrolling
When picking off template list the note field should scroll down so you can see what you are typing. Currently you can't see what you are typing.

Inline editing and reordering of template items
I'd like to move a template up or down to someplace else in the template while I'm writing a note, and not just from the settings menu. This would be especially helpful when I'm adding a new template item and it doesn't belong at the very bottom.
25 votesAs of 9/10/2015, you can edit and reorder template items while you’re working on a chart note.

Display Full Previous Encounter Content on Hover
When charting, we used to be able to hold the cursor over the date of a previous visit and a window would show what was previously entered. Now, you have to click on the date to see the content, requiring you to sometimes open and close several visits to find what you need. It would be much more efficient if holding your cursor over the date showed you what had been entered for that date.

Indicate a template line has been used
I would like the EHR to indicate when you use a line in a template. i.e. it would change color (lighten) to reflect that you already chose that line. When you have a robust template, it is hard see where you last clicked, since you don't always choose all of them.
21 votesHi everyone—thank you for your patience here.
As of 6/26/2015, there is now a visual indicator that you have selected a template line.

Template behavior: disable duplicate line clicking
We should not be able to click on the same template item twice, 3 times, 4 times, etc. We need a new color or some delete ability for duplication.

Easier Chart Note Navigation When Using Templates
When I use a template in the subjective section of the note, and hit enter, I would like the EHR to bring me to the objective section. And from there, to the assessment and plan sections.

Streamline Template Previews
Please make the preview of the templates show just the header (1 line) instead of 3 lines of content.

Insert Template Customizations
When I import text from previous visits such as the physical exam, the imported text has the line breaks intact so each part of the exam is on a separate line. When I import from templates, I expect this behavior to persist. Now I have to press <Enter> to separate them out. Please make it where the line breaks are intact when importing from the templates.
