Additional Encounter Types
Most surgeons will see patients in multiple hospitals in the ER on the floor or in the Operating room. When need to have a way to capture and add the documentation to our EMR both for billing and for documentation purposes. Currently the encounter type is limited to office.
Can you please provide additional encounter types: ER consultation, operating room procedure
Great news! Users can now add encounter types according to their SNOMED code, or HCPCS code.

Under "Encounter Type" custom choices are needed. When I enter a review of recent test results w or wo the plan of management, I find no applicable choices for encounter type. It doesn't make sense to enter anyone of the present choices after listing lab assessment under note type. Or just add "other" to encounter type choices.

Encounters I'd like to see: "Procedure" and "Other" (neither should be tied to Meaningful Use).
"Other" would give us the freedom to create note types that are most suitable.

I am again finding I need several different "encounter types" in the dropdown list.
I request "note to chart" and "records review". Others have requested "surgery" and "procedures.
Please allow customizeable encounter types.
We do outpatient procedures both in the office and in an ambulatory surgery center, and would like the flexibility to create encounter types that reflect procedures vs. follow up visits.

I am a diabetes educator. I hold group sessions in a community setting. For encounter type, the closest I can get is 'office visit.'

Need to be able to put surgeries, hospital visits, etc in encounter types other than office visit.
There should be an options of Vaccines. Some people come in for the next doze of vaccines and they are not for well exam.
Agree...need to at least add "Procedures" to the encounter type list.

I would like to have an encounter type such as Hospital Visits , for surgery and other similar procedure there should be an specific encounter type.

telephone encounter should not have vitals,
also, when you click on encounter type as a telephone encounter, the note type should be a default telephone note

I am a house call pediatrician and would like visit type to include Home or Residence. Thank you.
We also see patients in ICF facilities and small care homes so we need to be able to distinguish those from an office or home visit.
Currently the only form that is in the SOAP format is SOAP which is then printed on the notes. The custom encounter notes basically contain the Vital Signs and "Plan". I work in a remote occupational clinic where we have to divide patient visits into Occupational, Personal, Follow up for each, The plan is sent to supervisors to know if the employee has any medical limitations. As it is now the only way I am able to maintain patient confidentiality is to use the SOAP format - which doesn't tell me what type of visit the patient is being seen.
Agree with the other comments. Customizable encounter types would be very helpful. Included with this feature should be an option whether or not a specific encounter type should be included in MU, or an option encounter type of "other" that would not be included in MU. We see patients in all kinds of facilities and need a way to exclude certain patients from MU
