Mental health rating scales in the chart note
For evaluation of depression, the PHQ9 would be helpful to have in the screening/scale section. As well as the MDQ to rule out bipolar disorder. Also, the GAD7 to evaluate for anxiety which is extremely common would be good. I use these scales in my practice on everyone I see.

Height and Weight Percentiles
As a pediatrician, I would like the EHR to automatically calculate height and weight percentiles based on patient's age and vitals.

Vital Signs Pinned to Top of Chart Note
In the old ehr you could see the current vital signs wherever you were in the note. It would help to again have it pinned at the top for easy access no matter where you are in the chart note.

Split weight into pounds and ounces
Currently we can only enter pounds when recording weight. For pediatrics, we need to be able to enter lbs and oz separately.

Reduce space by consolidating vitals and flowsheets when printing notes
The columns with flowsheets take up a lot of extra space when printing and often cause over-runs onto extra sheets of paper. The columns are nice for tracking changes over time, but it would be much better if they printed in rows like before to save space.

Pediatric Milestones Flowsheets
Need a separate field for tracking milestones in pediatric charts. A field should pull up age-appropriate milestones for all pediatric visits including sick visit as development is important part of pediatrics charting
Also need a Reminder field upfront to remind all staff for what is needed on up coming visit.

Growth Chart Improvements
Growth Charts need to be correctable (you can put prior errors in red if necessary), as parents rely on these visuals. Also the new square on the growth graph is prettier, but doesn't allow a more careful estimation of the exact percentile. It needs to be a smaller dot and preferably on the vital sign section, just as the BMI is populated from Ht & Wt...the exact percentile would be WONDERFUL to have for pediatric growth measurement and analysis.

Vitals calculator for Blood Pressure Percentile
In pediatrics, a normal blood pressure is determined by percentile at wellness exams. It is based on height, age and systolic and diastolic blood pressure. It would be nice if there was a calculator built into the vitals section that could determine this percentile.

Growth charts in the SOAP notes
With the new flowsheets, growth charts can't be easily accessed in SOAP notes.
28 votesHi Dr. Bernstein, you can still access growth charts from the go to menu, are you asking us to also have a link on the encounter for growth charts so you don’t have to used the Goto menu?

Auto-fill height in new chart notes
It would be great if a patients' height could be automatically placed in each new encounter made for the office visit. Or provide an easier way to pull over the latest height, since over a certain age, it won't change much.

Display BMI Category Labels
I'd like BMI and BMI percentile to display the label by the number, e.g. "WNL" or "Obese"
Of course this will not apply to amputees or some other patients, but for typical patients this would save me a minute. Currently I have to glace over to my table to see whether this is obesity, morbid obesity, "at risk" pediatric BMI percentile, etc.

Dropdown for Vital Signs
For use with the tablets, it would be helpful to have a dropdown of numbers for some vital signs for easier entry. This is not critical, but would be beneficial.

"Blind Weight" as Vital property
There should be a check-box to indicate whether a patient's weight was taken "blind" (i.e. patient not shown the value). This is important for tracking on patients with eating disorders, to remind the practitioner to blind.

Add 'chief complaints' into the vitals table
Looking over the vital signs over time improves patient care.
Looking over the chief complaints in time improves patient care.Looking at a printout that the staff hands the doctor before encountering the patient personally, allows the doctor to ask and comment on specific issues that might otherwise be forgotten.
Anyhow, we do this with the vitals printout.
It would be great to have the chief complaints on the same sheet.10 votes
