How is the MIPS Final Score Calculated in 2018?
Under MIPS, there are 4 performance categories that affect your future Medicare payments. Each performance category is scored by itself and has a specific weight that’s its part of the MIPS Final Score. The payment adjustment assessed for MIPS eligible clinicians is based on the MIPS Final Score.
The MIPS Final Score for the 2018 reporting year will take into consideration:
- The weighted value and performance results associated with each performance category
- Exceptional performance factors
- Availability and applicability of measures for different categories of clinicians
- The special circumstances of small practices, practices located in rural areas, non-patient-facing MIPS eligible clinicians, and other special scenarios such as performance category re-weighting.
