What is the Infobutton Configuration Setting?
Diagnostic and therapeutic information links, also known as Infobuttons, are available within select CDS notifications to help providers access clinically relevant resources based on the subject of the alert, patient demographics, and clinical characteristics. Patient education materials links within medications, diagnoses, lab results, and imaging results are also considered Infobuttons. Infobutton resources may provide additional insight on medical conditions and treatment guidelines, and can also serve as patient education materials. Providers can configure the Infobutton content source that is linked from CDS notifications, medications, diagnoses, lab results, and imaging results to help ensure that providers are accessing the most relevant information for their patients.
Infobutton
Configuration Settings
By default, the Diagnostic
and Therapeutic Information link in select CDS alerts will direct you to Medline Plus,
a free content source for health information.
You may also link out to your own licensed Infobutton content if you prefer to use another resource. Practice administrators can configure the Infobutton content source that is linked from the Diagnostic/Therapeutic Information option in CDS alerts and the Patient education materials links by navigating to the EHR Settings and selecting Practice Details.
Under the Infobutton configuration section, enter the URL of the Infobutton-enabled source from which you would like to pull content. The EHR will validate the field, but we recommend ensuring that the source you’ve entered is Infobutton-enabled to properly surface content from CDS alerts and Patient education materials links.
CDS Alerts
Clicking the Diagnostic/Therapeutic
Information link in a CDS alert will search the Infobutton content resource
for relevant content that is tailored to the patient based on certain clinical
and demographic data and the subject of the alert.
Patient Education Materials Clicking the Patient education materials link within medications, diagnoses, lab results, and imaging results will search the Infobutton content resource for relevant content that is tailored to the patient based on certain clinical and demographic data.
Please note that if you have configured your Infobutton settings to point to a licensed content URL, you may need to log in to that content provider’s website to gain access. If you have any questions regarding your licensed content login information or subscription, please contact the relevant content provider.
