A simple note type can be created by anyone in your practice with administrative rights to fit your practice's workflow. To create a custom encounter type:
1. Click Settings in the upper right corner of the EHR.
2. Under Charting, select Chart Note Types.
3. You will be able to see a list of your existing chart note types. The default note types that were added by Practice Fusion cannot be edited. To add a new note type, add a note type name into the field labeled "Enter name for chart note."
How do I deactivate a chart note type?
Navigate to your list of "Chart Note Types" through the practice Settings. Scroll down to the note type you would like to deactivate and uncheck the box next to the name of the chart note type.
Where do I find these custom notes so I can chart?
To locate these notes when charting, click the drop down arrow to the right of the New Encounter button.
In order for the simple note to NOT count for Meaningful Use, it has to have an Encounter Type other than Office Visit, Telemedicine Visit, Home Visit or Nursing Home Visit.
