With Practice Fusion’s secure messaging, you can communicate and collaborate with your patients, practice staff, and other providers in one place.
To view your inbox, select the Messages section in your EHR. All unread messages will be bold in your Inbox. The notification badge on the Messages icon and on the Inbox tab at the top will display the number of new messages in your inbox. You can also reference the notification badge on the Message icon along the left-hand side of the EHR.
To view a message, click the thread on the left pane to see the contents of the message in the right pane. Opening a message will allow you to quickly view the full conversation history, print, archive, forward, and reply to the sender.
To view your sent messages, select the Sent tab at the top of the Message section. Similarly, messages that have been archived are available under the Archived tab.

Messages can be created in several places in your Practice Fusion account:
The Summary tab within a patient's chart
The Actions drop-down menu in a patient's chart
The Actions drop-down menu in the Documents section
How do I archive messages?
You can archive messages by checking the box to the left of the message (of the Select all check-box) and clicking Archive. Alternatively, open a message and select the Archive button at the bottom. To view messages you have archived, click the Archive folder in the top left to view those messages at any time.
By default, archiving a group message will archive it for all participants in the thread once the first user archives it. The practice administrator can disable this functionality for the entire practice within the Archive group messages setting. If disabled, messages will be archived for only the individual user who archives the message. For additional information, see: How do I manage message settings?
How do I use Keyboard Shortcuts to send a message from a lab result?
When on the Lab Result screen you may use the keys N M to open a message window. Click the letter N and the letter M and a window will pop up. This is the beginning of a long term effort to make keyboard shortcuts in the EHR.
