How do I view my lab results?

Note: Access to the EHR features described in this article may differ for practices who have already purchased a Practice Fusion EHR subscription plan. Please contact Practice Fusion Customer Service for additional information.

To view results that come into the EHR from a bound lab or results that you have entered using our manual lab entry workflow, select the Tasks section from the left-hand navigation bar.

To view lab results for your practice, please select the Lab Results tab. You may also review lab results within the All tasks tab, or the My tasks tab if any results have been assigned you. (Note: For additional information on customizing your Tasks display, click here.)

Select a lab result to open it. If the result isn't automatically assigned to a patient, choose Change patient in the Actions menu. You will see a dialogue box at the top of the  and it will be required to assign a patient.



After selecting a patient, assign a provider and order number (if available).



Once you have  selected a patient, selected a provider and added a order number, the option to Sign the result will appear.


To remove the tasks from your Tasks List, you must sign all observations. If you do not sign all observations, the task will remain marked as Incomplete. or more information, see: How do I sign a result and remove it from my Tasks List?

Viewing Attachments:
To view the attachments that come in with your lab/imaging results click on the blue text under the “Attachments” section in the Order Details.

If you are unable to view the attachments please be sure that your Pop-Up Blockers are turned off. To learn how to turn off your pop-up blockers, please see this post: How do I disable pop-up blockers?

Adding Diagnoses and Comments to a Lab result:
Within a lab result, you can add a Diagnosis to each observation. To add a diagnosis click the highlighted observation and additional fields will open below. Add your preferred diagnosis, and comment to each lab result. To just add a comment, click into the highlighted observation, and a comment box will open below. Please be sure to save your changes.


Adding Medications to a Lab

Adding Observations to Flowsheets:
Practice Fusion's customizable flowsheets can help improve patient progress by allowing you to track all relevant vitals and lab results in one location. To ensure that you are selecting the correct observation in your flowsheet based on the lab results you are receiving, you can also add observations to your flowsheets directly from a lab result. Within a lab result, you'll see the option to Add to flowsheet next to the test name if any of the test's observations contain a LOINC code (an industry-standard format), which are required for flowsheet compatibility. This option will also display next to individual observations that contain a LOINC code. For more information about how to build flowsheets, click here.
