Meaningful Use encourages providers to engage patients to take a more active role in managing their health. As a result, Meaningful Use Stage 2 Objective 8: Patient Electronic Access relates to patient portal access.
How does auto-invite help me with Meaningful Use?
Your patients 18-85 years old will automatically be invited to access their records when the auto-invite setting is enabled for a provider. As long as you have an email address, a phone number and a chart note recorded, patients will automatically receive an email with instructions on how to register for their patient portal.
Keep in mind, there is a time component related to some of these measures. In order for auto-invite to help you fulfill these measures, we recommend that you sign your chart notes within 4 business days of the chart note's date of service. Please note that patient action is required to fulfill one of the measures for Stage 2 Objective 8: Patient Electronic Access. Please review details for the objective.
Auto-invites are sent several minutes after signing a chart note. For practices that don’t consistently sign chart notes, patients may also be automatically invited 30 days after an unsigned chart note is created, as long as it is not deleted.
Note: Patient portal invitations for unsigned encounters will be sent 30 days after the date of the visit, and will not help to fulfill these measures.
To adjust your auto-invite settings, click on "Settings," then "Patient communications" under Patient engagement. Administrators can adjust which providers automatically invite patients to Patient Fusion.
Under the PHR invite tab, administrators can:
Manage which users have the ability to grant a patient access to the PHR (manual enrollment)
Manage which users are enabled for auto-invite (Note: Each user may also manage his or her own auto-invite settings)
