What is the appointment reminder process?

Appointment reminders are sent to a patient’s email address one week and one day before a scheduled appointment. If the administrator has enabled patient intake, appointment reminders will also contain a link to complete Online Check-In. The email appears exactly like the image below.

 

Any administrator can choose to enable appointment reminders for the practice or a specific user. Click Settings in the upper right-hand corner of your account, then click Patient communications.



From the Appointment reminders tab, an administrator can enable the setting for practice by toggling the Enable appointment reminders for your practice button to On, and then decide which providers in the practice will initiate the email appointment reminders for patients by using the checkboxes next to the user’s name. Appointment status emails (eg cancellations, changes or proposal to appointment times and confirmation of appointments) may be sent even if appointment reminders are turned off.

Please note: If you change your practice information, future appointment reminders will contain the updated contact information.

Turning appointment reminders on will set all patient preferences to On by default. Reminders can be turned off for specific patient from the patient’s Profile.




Please note that time zone settings within Practice Fusion will affect your appointment reminders, though time settings on your computer will not. To change your Practice Fusion time zone settings, please follow the steps below.

1. Click Settings in the upper right-hand corner of your Practice Fusion account.
2. Select Practice Details.
3. Adjust the time zone settings drop-down.
4. If applicable, check the Observes daylight saving box.
5. Click Save.
