If you qualify for both the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) and Meaningful Use (the Medicaid EHR Incentive Program), you may participate in both programs. If you plan to participate in Meaningful Use through your state and are also a Medicare Part B clinician who is eligible for MIPS, please note that you will also need to participate in the MIPS program to avoid the MIPS payment adjustment.
What is the relationship between Medicaid and MIPS?
MIPS applies to clinicians providing services under Medicare Part B. MIPS does not replace the Medicaid EHR Incentive program, which will continue through 2021. Clinicians who are eligible for the Medicaid EHR Incentive Program will continue to attest to their respective State Medicaid Agencies to receive their payments.
