If you are using Practice Fusion in conjunction with another EHR or e-Prescribing vendor, you will need to generate a specific CMS EHR certification ID which combines the two vendors' certification numbers when reporting to CMS. This can be done on the ONC Certified Health IT product list.
Steps to generate CMS EHR Certification ID
1. Search for Practice Fusion in the 'Vendor Name' search field.
2. Click the yellow + Cert ID button to the right of the search result for Practice Fusion EHR version 3.6.
3. Next, search for your second EHR vendor in the search field at the top of the page. Once search results are returned, click the yellow + Cert ID button to the right of the correct EHR version number for that vendor.
4. Once both vendors have been added, click on the CMS ID Creator tab at the top of page. In the dropdown that appears (both EHR vendors should be listed), click the yellow Get 2014 EHR Certification ID button. This will generate a unique 15-digit certification ID for your specific attestation.
Calculating values with multiple EHRs
In addition to registering with a combined certification number, you will need to add Meaningful Use values from both EHRs.
Working in multiple settings
If you work in multiple settings and use different certified EHRs during your reporting period, you are still able to attest to Meaningful Use and earn incentives since the payment is tied to your individual NPI.
In order to attest, you will need to add the numerator and denominator values from both EHRs for measures that are based on a percentage. For more complete information on calculating data from multiple EHRs, please review the CMS Guide for Eligible Professionals Practicing in Multiple Locations.
For more information on how to handle calculations when switching practices, please reach out directly to your state Medicaid agency for assistance.
Please note that using only Practice Fusion is the easiest way to qualify for Meaningful Use criteria. For more information, you can visit the Meaningful Use Center.
