How do I submit to California's Immunization Registry (CAIR)?

How do I connect Practice Fusion with my registry for Meaningful Use (Medicaid) or MIPS (Medicare)?

1: Register Your Meaningful Use or MIPS Intentions with CAIR

  • Register at the CDPH HIE Gateway/IZ Portal (if you already registered before January 1, 2014, do not re-register)  and indicate the first day of your intended Meaningful Use or MIPS reporting period.

  • During registration you will be asked to choose one of three site types. Choose site type 2: site will submit data via a distinct Sending Facility (e.g. HIO, vendor/EHR data warehouse, health plan data warehouse, other data aggregator).

  • When asked, enter the Practice Fusion Sending Facility ID of SF-001437. You will be given an opportunity to look-up your existing CAIR ID, if you already have a CAIR account, using the Provider search.


2. Sign up for an integration through Practice Fusion in Immunization Settings

  • Ensure that the following information has been accurately entered into the EHR in the applicable areas: Provider name, Primary facility address, and NPI. Note: For instructions on editing your EHR Settings, click here.

  • Navigate to Settings --> Vaccines and immunizations--> Immunization registry.

  • Under Step 2: Connect, select Connect an EHR facility to your state registry.

  • Select the facility name with which you are registering.

  • Select "California - CDPH HIE Gateway"  from the  Receiving Registry drop-down menu.

  • Enter your specific dataownerid (your CAIR site ID) in the Production dataownerid and Testing dataownerid fields. You should have the CAIR site ID after registering for HL7/electronic submission with CAIR. If you do not have a CAIR site ID, please contact CAIR. Additionally, enter your county in the Production county and Testing county fields.Select the “i” icon for additional information about each credential.

  • Click Register to begin the testing and validation process.




3. Activate your immunization integration in the Immunization Settings page

  • You can proceed to submit production (real patient) data by visiting the Immunization settings page and activating your integration. Additionally, you can indicate that you have achieved the Immunization Registry Data Submission measure in your Meaningful Use Dashboard.




4. Submit immunization records directly to your local registry

  • Once activated, you will need to electronically submit immunization files to your registry for each patient.

  • Go to the Immunizations section of the chart and click Transmit all. Alternatively, click the Actions button and select Transmit to state registry.




Note: You must disclose to your patients that their data will be shared with the CAIR immunization registry.
