Your template line settings will determine how the system formats spacing and punctuation after using a line item in an encounter and can be customized for each user in your practice.
To get started, select Charting Templates from your EHR Settings and click the tab containing the gear icon.
1. Select the punctuation and spacing to be added after selecting a template line item. You can select from a list of predefined punctuation and spacing options, or enter a custom option. Our preset options include:

If you select Custom, you can enter the exact formatting that punctuation or spacing that works for your practice workflow.
2. Select if there should be a new line added each time you use a line item. You can select:
Do not add a new line
Add a new line
Add a double new line
3. Before saving, you can preview how your line items will display while charting in an encounter under the Example template items with formatting header. Click Save in the top right corner when complete.
