While no activation or payer syncing is required when connecting with Kareo for billing, we recommend ensuring that you have entered patient demographic and insurance information in Practice Fusion and Kareo following the guidelines below:
Syncing patient demographics
When submitting a superbill, Kareo matches patients based on first name, last name, and DOB. If a patient can’t be located in Kareo, a new patient will automatically be created. Therefore, you can submit a superbill for a patient entered only in Practice Fusion and the patient will automatically be added in Kareo.
Syncing patient insurance
You may successfully submit superbills to Kareo without patient insurance entered in Practice Fusion. If the patient already has insurance information entered in Kareo, Kareo will automatically assign that insurance to the superbill.
Syncing information displayed on the superbill
Any information entered in the Notes or Amount paid fields will transfer to Kareo’s respective fields - Medical Office Notes and Amount Paid.
