It sounds like you’re more interested in moving these tasks into a new status or task type which is “Call patients about labs” that can then be cleared 1 by 1.

I would love the ability to print the tast list. Ir the task type "call patients about ___". Either would be great if it was a printable list.
Electronic signing of referrals would be a fabulous idea as we too are attempting to decrease our use of paper.
