Hi Ariel--thanks so much for bringing these things to our attention. Keep it up!
For this one, our User Research and Design teams are still working on overall legibility and accessibility in the EHR, so we're going to keep this one active for now.

Hi Dr. Marc,
Here are the ideas you're interested in supporting:
Matthew Douglass commented
Hi Courtney--that checkbox is not connected to any automated notifications at this time. We may utilize this in the future.
Matthew Douglass commented
Hi Dr. Krueger--yes, that is likely how we'll implement this feature when we tackle it.
Matthew Douglass commented
Great feedback. This will definitely be an optional feature for customers to opt-in to if and when we build this. I think you're onto something with keeping this for only when you're not logged in and using the EHR actively.
Matthew Douglass commented
That's likely how we'll implement this feature when we get to it. However, patients will still have to take the initial step to opt themselves into the service. Physicians nor their staff can opt the patients in fully.
Matthew Douglass commented
The FCC is very clear that that behavior is not legal: http://www.fcc.gov/guides/spam-unwanted-text-messages-and-email
Matthew Douglass commented
Hi Sedi--this is currently not a feature that we offer.
This is something we have considered adding. The complicated aspect of this is that every patient must log in to Patient Fusion to authorize (opt-in to) these text alerts before we’re allowed to send them out on your behalf.
The FCC is clear about this rule: http://www.fcc.gov/guides/spam-unwanted-text-messages-and-email
Matthew Douglass commented
Yes, patients would still need to go online to "opt-in". It is not sufficient from the FTC's point of view that a physician opts them in by proxy.

Hi everybody, when looking at a patient, you can choose “Actions: Print patient chart”. A screen will open that will allow you to choose what to print for that patient. You can choose all of their encounters (up to 50) to print if you like.
Matthew Douglass commented
Thanks for helping to improve our communication here, Dr. Mckim. The admin response has been corrected to reflect the 50 chart note maximum.

Hi everyone – to provide some clarification, please note that the Tax ID field on the printed superbill populates based on the EIN/TIN entered into the Medical Identifiers section of your User Settings (under Settings, go to Users and click on your name to edit your details). Once you have entered your EIN/TIN into your User Settings and saved your changes, log out and back into the EHR to see these changes reflected on your printed superbills. The practice/group EIN entered into the Practice Details settings will not populate on the superbill, as detailed in the Knowledge Base article below.

We have not yet built that functionality into our print template. But by commenting or voting on this idea, you are telling us that you'd like to see it added.

Hi Mrs. Agrawal,
To ensure you receive important interaction alerts when prescribing, we’ve recently improved our allergy workflow. Free-text allergies have been relocated from the patient’s Past Medical History (PMH) to your patient’s structured Allergy field on their Summary tab and encounter. As such, information recorded in the structured Allergy section will not be reflected in the PMH section and cannot be copied into an encounter via the 'Previous' tab. However, you may manually enter this information into the encounter. You can read more about our recent allergy updates here:
http://knowledgebase.practicefusion.com/knowledgebase/articles/483368-how-do-i-add-allergiesThank you for commenting on this idea. Our team is continuing to look for ways to improve our allergy entry.

After consulting with our billing partners, we wanted to provide some additional context for why we are limiting each CPT line to 4 diagnosis codes:
You may associate up to 4 diagnoses per CPT code in the Practice Fusion superbill. While the official CMS 1500 claim form that your biller creates allows for 12 diagnoses to be documented per claim, only 4 diagnosis pointers can be associated per CPT code. To simplify and standardize the superbill process in Practice Fusion, we are limiting each CPT line to 4 diagnosis codes. Please note that the Practice Fusion superbill is not used as an electronic claim and can be adjusted to include diagnosis pointers and additional diagnoses after it has been submitted to your billing system for review.
You can read more about superbills here: http://knowledgebase.practicefusion.com/knowledgebase/articles/483043-how-do-i-create-a-superbill
Please add your voice to the conversation by commenting below or by voting for…
Matthew Douglass commented
Hello Mary,
In this scenario, we suggest you create an additional procedure line with the same CPT code on that superbill. This will allow you to communicate additional diagnoses to the biller, once the superbill lands in the claim.
We understand this is not the most ideal method of communication with your biller at this time, but after checking with our integrated billing systems, this should work just fine.

As many of you know, we have deployed the ability for faxes to flow into Practice Fusion from Updox. This method of document publishing may be a positive alternative to scanning of documents.
We will leave this idea as “Acknowledged” for now.
To sign up for this service, please fill in the Updox form here http://info.updox.com/updox-practicefusion/ to create your Updox account or call an Updox representative at (614) 798-8170 ext. 1 to begin the process.

Hi Hayley--when we roll out new features, they go out the night before the day that we publish here. So in this case, we updated our system on the evening of 5/28. You need to log out of PF and back in to receive the updates.
Matthew Douglass commented
Hi Julianne--you just described exactly how this will work when it's released on 5/29

Hi Lafonda--yes, that is the first step we're taking. We're working on making this setting even more granular as well.

Hi Kathleen--yes, when we release this, it will apply to the Weekly schedule too.

As of 8/11/2015, we have deployed ICD-10 coding for Practice Fusion superbills in all PF practices to make sure you are prepared for the October 2015 CMS ICD-10 deadline.
We have also incorporated ICD-10 diagnosis coding directly in the clinical and lab ordering workflows.
To learn more, you can visit our ICD-10 Center here: http://www.practicefusion.com/icd-10/
Additionally, there are 3 helpful knowledge base articles available:

Hi Dr. Gilmer--we have begun working on ICD10 for the clinical workflow as well.
Matthew Douglass commented
Hi Dr. Gilmer--no reason to be disturbed. We are also working on ICD10 coding in the clinical workflows. More updates as we near release of this functionality.
Matthew Douglass commented
Hi Dr. Matheson--we're going to see about having someone reach out to you directly to see if they can help with the issues you've raised. Thanks for keeping the feedback coming!
Matthew Douglass commented
Hi Shirin--we will be adding ICD10 to the clinical workflows very soon as well.
Matthew Douglass commented
Hi Jonathan--you're going to love the way we've implemented ICD10. Our implementation will help you find the correct ICD10 code (including facets and modifiers) very easily.
Regarding the interim period, there will be a month or so overlap where many practices will be filing claims with dates of service prior to the 10/1/2015 deadline. Additionally, not all private payers are ready for ICD10 on Oct 1.
So our functionality will allow you to use both ICD9 and ICD10. That's what I mean when I talk about an interim period.
Matthew Douglass commented
Hi Jessie,
This has the potential to be an incredibly complicated transition for everyone in the medical industry, so we are doing it in phases.
The requirement from CMS (Medicare & Medicaid) is that all claims for services after 10/1/2015 must be ICD-10 coded. So that is what we will be beta testing with practices in July and then rolling out to our entire community soon after. There will be an interim period where you will have the option to use ICD-9 or ICD-10 for your claims.
Regarding the clinical coding, we will also be updating those workflows to include ICD-10 searching and selection. We are waiting until later in the year to implement this because it is not required for you to be in compliance with CMS. But as you mention, it will have some value when it comes to speeding up billing coding on the superbill itself.
We'll have much more info on this in the coming months. We are dedicated to providing the best EHR experience for transitioning to ICD-10.
Matthew Douglass commented
Indeed. Dr. Gilmer. This is exactly how we're implementing this. You're going to be pleasantly surprised.
Matthew Douglass commented
Hi Ellie--the way we're implementing ICD10 for billing will be quite similar to that compact version you're describing.
You might want to contribute to the conversation here for your compact charting diagnosis request: http://knowledgebase.practicefusion.com/forums/276361-product-ideas/suggestions/7135920-diagnosis-list-ranking-linking
And your RAF idea should probably be its own standalone, since we are not a billing system and haven't had anyone ask about that yet: www.practicefusion.com/ideas
Matthew Douglass commented
Hi Sue--you're correct. This is a complicated situation. We'll be following up on this thread soon with information and training on how all of this will work. Rest assured that we're trialing this with some of our beta testing practices and are working very hard to keep this as simple a transition as possible.
Matthew Douglass commented
The workflow would be: you search by ICD9 code, PF returns ICD10 results, you choose the most appropriate ICD10 code. The only reason we're allowing searching by ICD9 code is to make this a much more seamless transition for those of you (basically, everyone) who are used to searching by ICD9 codes and descriptions.
Matthew Douglass commented
Hi Zemelda--we'll have full training sessions, webinars, Knowledge Base articles, and recorded videos to walk you through the process.
We are keeping this *very* simple during the transition to make sure there is the least amount of disruption to your workflows.
You'll still be able to search by ICD9 codes. You'll still be able to search by ICD9 text terms. But the ultimate code you pick has to be ICD10.
I think you'll be delightfully surprised at how simple this is going to be in the EHR. I can't speak to how this will work in downstream billing systems, but we're focused on keeping our clinical and superbill workflows super easy.
Matthew Douglass commented
Quick update here: we plan to start rolling out ICD10 beta testing in early Q3 (i.e. July) 2015, with a broader rollout in the summer to all PF practices.
Matthew Douglass commented
Hi Cindy--we are working on this functionality now. You're following the correct thread to get updates on our likely release date.
Matthew Douglass commented
We are indeed planning to release this functionality prior to Oct 2015
Matthew Douglass commented
Hi Dr. Taylor,
Absolutely, our videos will be very clear and concise for what you need to do. Additionally, we're making it especially easy to transition because you'll still be able to search by ICD9 code or by SNOMED terminology.
