I agree this would be helpful as we serve Amish and Mennonite communities where there are duplicate names, including middle initials. Seeing this alert during new patient entry would be good, and also when you are in other sections of the EHR. Maybe color-coded highlighting over the duplicate names to draw attention.

There are boxes to check in the profile section to say the patient has given permission to sent sms/text messages, emails, or voice notifications. Does the patient still need to go online to "opt-in"? Many of our patients use cell phones but don't own computers. We also do not offer online patient access or appointments.

Our office provides the option to fill out these boxes on our "New Patient" info sheet the first time they come to our office. I do know that the email reminders are getting out and the patients appreciate the reminder. They also state that text messages would be welcome also. Thank you for offering appointment reminders.

With this idea in mind, how about the ability to hide all seen and no show visits on the daily schedule but still have them show up on the weekly schedule? Can the settings be page specific?

    Sorry for not explaining better.

My comment is in regard to the limited times that an appointment can begin. On my system in the new EHR, I can only select "at the top of the hour" and "half-hour". Yes, the length of appointment can be from 15 min on in 15 min increments, but this doesn't help us schedule when we can only select the 1/2 hour times--I have to book the appointments on top of each other right now and it is confusing.

We use 45 min. appointments a lot. I would like to be able to select an appointment starting time of 9:15 or 9:45, for example.

Thank you for responding to my suggestion.

Great idea. We have heard about this from other providers as well.

Our office agrees. The most recently used pharmacies should be at the top of the list of choices, even for first time patients. Our provider just mentioned this today. This is something the old system provided without having to type city or zip.

Update: We’ve made additional enhancements to the Recent patient list.

Beginning 4/24/2015, the patient list in the new EHR will automatically show up to 1,000 patients, sorted by most recently accessed.

You can read more about this here: http://knowledgebase.practicefusion.com/knowledgebase/articles/483079-how-do-i-search-for-patients-in-the-ehr

We will also be taking an entire re-look at this feature later this year, to make sure you can find your patients when you need to access them.

Thanks to everyone for providing your thoughts on how inactive patients should be displayed in Practice Fusion.

As of 03/25/2016, to reduce confusion when working with patient lists, we have made it more obvious in the main Charts section when a patient is inactive.

You will see the words “Inactive” in the patient list as well as the patient header when you are working with an inactive patient.

Additionally, if a patient is marked as inactive, she or he will not appear in search results for appointments, messages, labs, or refills. If you would like a patient to appear in those search results for selection, you’ll need to mark the patient as Active.
