I will chime in here as well: all the prescriptions for a single patient. THere's no need to mix patients. THe problem with the prescriptions when you're printing them (for controlled Rx, for example) is that only one fits per page. that security paper is not cheap. At the very least 2 or preferably 4 prescriptions should fit on one standard page.

Agreed about the missing notes section. Or, I don't know, don't *require* a reason. Leave it as a dropdown choice or blank text.
I'd also like to point out that the time blocks no longer are specifically color coded to specific providers any longer. We've accidentally had some appointments scheduled during a provider's pending vacation, because it wasn't as obvious that the provider would be gone (since all of the time blocks are now grey). Please bring back the color coding for the blocked time! We really need it during our week views of the schedule.

I would also make the plug/request again here for customizable work hours for providers instead of making the work hours practice wide: Dr. A is here M, T, W, F; Dr. B is here M,T,T,F, Dr. C is here W (am) and every other Saturday.
It would be so much easier if we could just set up each day's hours for each provider at the start and then make the occasional changes here and there when needed.

Hi everyone – As of 1/19/2017, we have introduced a new schedule setting to all practices that allows administrators to determine if encounters will be auto-generated for appointments marked as cancelled or no-show.

You can read more about schedule settings here: http://knowledgebase.practicefusion.com/knowledgebase/articles/482832

We have also introduced a new Appointment Report that allows practices to review and filter appointments by facility, status, provider, and date, making it easier to track cancellations, no shows, and other scheduling details.

You can read more about the new Appointment Report here:

Has there been any progress on this or is this in the works? It's really frustrating that when a patient cancels an appointment, it generates a SOAP note that winds up in a task list. The same with No-shows. I love that we can still see in the appointment list when appts are cancelled or no-show, but I don't understand why it generates a note.

    Keely Godwin, MD commented  ·

We track these as well. If you look at the appointment list, as long as you list the reason (no-show/cancellation), then it shows up in the appt list, even if you delete the note.
That's why the appointment list is handier than the "notes" or "events" timeline.
I know that right now appointments are on that initial summary screen, but ideally no-show and cancelled appointments should be listed in the timeline.

Great idea. We have heard about this from other providers as well.

To anyone else who may be interested in this feature, please add your voice to the conversation by commenting below or by voting for this feature so we know it is important to you. This will improve the likelihood that we add this feature to the Practice Fusion EHR.

I know this was acknowledged in February, but I'd like to point out again that folly that is using the zip code to search. For example, we have a Harris Teeter that is literally less than 2 blocks away. However, their zip code is not the same as ours, so when I search for pharmacies near my facility location, neither the Harris Teeter nor any of the other pharmacies that are only a few blocks away show up in the list (there's a Walgreen's and a CVS).
Also, most patients, when they go to their local pharmacy they don't often know the zip code of the pharmacy. Do you know the zip code of your pharmacy? Most people don't memorize zip code maps.
"Nearby" should not be within the same zip code, but within a certain mile (maybe 5 to 10) radius of a site, based on geography, not mail delivery.

I'm hoping that when we get these updates, you're actually just updating how documents and labs are now going to be included as part of the "chart" when we print the chart or attach it to a referral. That would kill like 20 birds with one stone.

    Keely Godwin, MD commented  ·

Agree with the many comments: many specialty offices require that we send labs and imaging. Given that there are far fewer imaging centers connected (and that many of them still send paper results even if they are connected) we have to be able to send documents that we've uploaded to the patient chart as well as labs. It's part of the patient chart, and the fact that they're not included as such is sort of crazy.
Also, it would be nice to easily be able to find patient documents in the new EHR (having a tab similar to lab results, etc).

We've been very disconcerted to find that we can no longer search by first name only. We often will get messages from patients whose last name is hard to recall the exact spelling of, and with the new search, if you put in a misspelled version of their name, nothing comes up (we used to get lists of the closest approximation or similar names). We need this back, as we often will search for a first name and even a letter of the last name and we'll get zero search results, but if we search with only a last name, our desired patient may show up (but only if it's spelled correctly).
Please give us back our "closets approximation" list!

Until recently, if we were trying to schedule a new patient, we would click on an appointment time, type in a name and when that name wasn't found in the existing patient list, we would choose "add new patient" to add them into our database.
When it was starting that new patient record, it would automatically populate the name we'd initially searched into the name window in the new patient record.
We've noticed that behavior by the EMR is no longer in place.
For our office, where we have a pretty significant international population, this is a real issue for us because we then have to either hand write the name while we're having the patient spell it over the phone, or we have to ask them a second time for name (and spelling) so now we can put it in their record.

This!! A million times this! There are a number of prescriptions that are populating my "frequently used" list, but ideally they would be saved as a template. And using the 'shortcut' doesn't work as well, frankly.

I think if you're making an appointment, you just have a pop up over the 'create appointment' box that says "this patient has an appointment on x date" it would be fine. Then one should have several action options:
1: Ignore. This would just let you schedule the appointment and not touch the future one.
2: Change Scheduled Appt. This would allow you to edit that already scheduled appointment to reflect the new date/time. (not create a new appointment, but just move the one that is already scheduled to a different time).
3: Cancel Scheduled Appt: this would cancel the future scheduled appointment and then allow you to make the new appointment.

What I'd like to see is actually a more compact schedule in general on the screen. We don't print the schedule, but it's very frustrating how big and blocky all of the 'day' and 'week' views have become. The side banner ad appears to have increased in width compared with the view in, say, a SOAP note.

I don't even want it smaller to print. Iwant it smaller so I can see the whole day in one screen without having to scroll down.

As of today, it's even worse: If I am working from "my tasks" list, and I complete a task that is, say, a refill request, it then takes me back to ALL refill requests for all providers. I don't want that list, I want MY task list. That's what I'm working from. Take me back to the list where I started when I complete a task.

Even more annoying than that, I'm finding that if I'm in the task list, and one of the tasks is, say, a refill request. I complete the refill request, and instead of being taken back to my task list I was working from, I get taken to the refill request list for all providers.
The same is true for signing documents. I start in my own task list, I review and sign a document from that list, then when it's done, I get taken back to the unsigned documents list. It's inconvenient at best and a water of my time at worst. Take me back to the list where I started when I complete a task.
