Before the update this year, PF used to allow anyone to respond to a message - which was great! Anyone who logged into the chart could read the message, open it and respond to it, add more info, etc.
After the update, now only the sender and receiver can do anything with the message. This creates more work and confusion for everyone. This forces us to create a new message each time & is a great way for things to get lost in communication.
Please review & fix this feature to give anyone in the practice the ability to add to, reply, or archive a message. This will be such a HUGE help to our practice. THANK YOU!!!

Yes, please add a place to log supplements that patient's are taking. It would be really helpful to have this available in the chart. Thanks!

Also, please allow us to include the person's title and credentials - with punctuation. It's hard to remember whether someone is a Dr. , NP, DO, DC, etc when we are only allowed to add their first & last name, their fax, phone and email. This would be really helpful to have changed! Thanks!

    Resolved  ·  Matthew Douglass responded

Thanks to everyone for providing your thoughts on how inactive patients should be displayed in Practice Fusion.

As of 03/25/2016, to reduce confusion when working with patient lists, we have made it more obvious in the main Charts section when a patient is inactive.

You will see the words “Inactive” in the patient list as well as the patient header when you are working with an inactive patient.

Additionally, if a patient is marked as inactive, she or he will not appear in search results for appointments, messages, labs, or refills. If you would like a patient to appear in those search results for selection, you’ll need to mark the patient as Active.

    Erica commented  ·

I can't figure out which chart to choose when uploading a document to a patient's chart who accidentally has 2 charts (for whatever reason) 1 is active & the other is inactive. There is no way to tell that from the uploading screen - causing me to have to just pick one then go back to the chart and check to see which chart it uploaded to.... don't have time for this. Please fix!

I am happy to report that you can review the number of active patients in your Practice Fusion account via the ‘Patient Import’ tile on your Practice Dashboard.

    Partially Resolved  ·  Aliza responded

    Hi everyone,

Good news! As of 9/28/17 you can now add a prefix and/or suffix to the patient Profile page.

We will keep this feature request as partially resolved as we have not yet implemented the ability to search for patients by preferred name.

    Erica commented  ·

Front desk staff is currently adding the patient's name in quotations after their legal name. This is annoying because then it comes out on all docs you print from the patient's chart.
Please add a space to record a nickname or preferred name. Some patients become VERY upset having to tell us more than once that they don't like to be called their legal name.

    Erica commented  ·

I agree with the request above & would also like to add that we should be able to have punctuation in the name fields. Our practice only recently updated to the new EHR & now we cannot exit out of a patient's summary page until we remove any punctuation from their names (Jr. , Sr. , etc.) It would be nice to be able to leave it in there.

I would also like to request that under the Emergency Contact section that it not be required to enter the Emergency Contact's City & Zip code. I'm finding that in the previous EHR it did not require those things & in the new EHR it will not let me exit out of the summary section until we enter something in the City & Zip code field. We have been entering "n/a" for the city and "00000" for the zip just to get out of the chart. It would be nice not to have to spend time doing this. Thanks!

Hi Dana—can you provide some more detail on the kinds of things you need to store in the Notes field? We’re rolling out Patient Alerts soon, which should give you more space and structure for this sort of thing.

    Erica commented  ·

YES! Please increase the # of characters of the notes section. Our practices uses this section as means for communication about a particular patient. For example, "7/15/15: pt called RE: Rx refill. Message sent to Dr. - see msgs. ec" That way when the patient calls back, anyone who answers the phone can look into their chart & see what the patient is most likely calling about.
Since there is not an instant message system inside of PF we solely rely on this NOTES section to do this for us. Once we get so many notes in there we are forced to delete the seemingly "unimportant" ones but we shouldn't have to be deleting anything from a patient's chart. Please increase the characters to unlimited like a SOAP note. That would be amazing!

I need the notes field too. I needed more characters when it was the old EHR and now that we have updated (just this past weekend) it is much smaller and VERY inconveniently placed in the chart. Our practice uses this section the most to document things that are important or that we are waiting for, etc. This is also where I list the patient's PCP, Name of Insurance Company, preferred pharmacy, etc. So that all the information is easily accessible in one place.
Please move the notes section to a more noticeable spot and please allow as many characters as possible. In the old EHR the notes section took up the whole right side of the screen. If we could get that box back and make it so there are unlimited # of characters to write in it -- that would be PERFECT!!
