As of 8/11/2015, we have deployed ICD-10 coding for Practice Fusion superbills in all PF practices to make sure you are prepared for the October 2015 CMS ICD-10 deadline.

We have also incorporated ICD-10 diagnosis coding directly in the clinical and lab ordering workflows.

To learn more, you can visit our ICD-10 Center here: http://www.practicefusion.com/icd-10/

I am thankful that PF has put in place a system for ICD-9/ICD-10 conversion. However, we’re running to quite a problem. It seems that when the providers are entering the dx codes in the summary tab or in the encounter it only does the ICD-9 code. But when the biller goes to complete the superbill, they have the ICD-9 that the provider entered but some codes prompt for a more specific ICD-10 code. The biller is not going to know what this should be as the provider is the one diagnosing the patient. We don’t have time to get with the provider on all of these instances to clarify but we need the correct information. Can you please make that prompt at the provider level when they enter diagnosis codes in the encounter? We need this ASAP!!!

Hi everyone – As of 1/19/2017, we have introduced a new schedule setting to all practices that allows administrators to determine if encounters will be auto-generated for appointments marked as cancelled or no-show.

You can read more about schedule settings here: http://knowledgebase.practicefusion.com/knowledgebase/articles/482832

We have also introduced a new Appointment Report that allows practices to review and filter appointments by facility, status, provider, and date, making it easier to track cancellations, no shows, and other scheduling details.

You can read more about the new Appointment Report here:

This is becoming an issue for us. We should have the option to turn off automatic encounters for cancelled and no show appointments. Our providers do not have time to mess with them but also don't want them junking up their task lists. Please address ASAP!

We need this too! We have a 24 hour cancellation policy and would like it to appear on the reminders.

Thanks to everyone for providing your thoughts on how inactive patients should be displayed in Practice Fusion.

As of 03/25/2016, to reduce confusion when working with patient lists, we have made it more obvious in the main Charts section when a patient is inactive.

You will see the words “Inactive” in the patient list as well as the patient header when you are working with an inactive patient.

Additionally, if a patient is marked as inactive, she or he will not appear in search results for appointments, messages, labs, or refills. If you would like a patient to appear in those search results for selection, you’ll need to mark the patient as Active.

Hi everyone – As of 11/17/17, patients are able to attach files and hyperlinks to messages that they send to their provider from within the patient portal. When received in the EHR, these files and hyperlinks can be saved as documents to attach to the patient chart.

For more information on handling patient message attachments, please see our Knowledge Base article here:

Thanks, Dr. Moro. I can definitely see the value in this.

We’d love to hear from other customers if this would be beneficial for their practice as well. The more votes and comments an idea gets, the more likely it is we’ll work it into a future release.

As of January 2016, the diagnosis selector in the superbill has been improved to better delineate the difference between Encounter Diagnoses, Active Diagnoses, and Historical Diagnoses. This should make it much easier to avoid potential errors and confusion.
