GENERAL ALERT could be used for a variety of issues. Red flag possible dangerous behaviors as well as MULTIPLE CHARTS SAME NAME...

I can not believe that this program does not have such a feature.
It should be categorized more than helpful. It is an emergency situation to make the product help prevent disastrous consequences. ISN'T THAT WHAT CEHRT is designed to do? Improve patient care?
I am surprised that an alert system is not a requirement.

We are excited to announce that as of 11/17/17, patients are now able to attach files and hyperlinks to messages that they send to their provider from within the patient portal. When received in the EHR, these files and hyperlinks can be saved as documents to attach to the patient chart.

For more information on handling patient message attachments, please see our Knowledge Base article here: https://knowledgebase.practicefusion.com/knowledgebase/articles/483766-how-do-i-use-patient-messaging

That is all well and good. However, the last time I checked it was impossible for us to send attachments in the other direction. Because certain types of results arrive as PAPER until the magical Paperless office becomes a reality, our patients need to receive a copy before the next appointment without being required to come to the office or having to snail mail or fax to the patient. We have arrived at Practice Fusion because our previous EHR has gone out of business. The patient portal associated with that company's EHR did allow sending direct from the chart and it was A WONDERFUL TOOL THAT ALSO STIMULATED THE EXCHANGE OF INFORMATION. MU POINTS FOR THAT. We would receive the report/scan it and upload to chart / access chart and click on send to the patient portal with a comment. Patient would comment back and a beautiful MEANINGFUL exchange of info was the result. Great tool and CMS REQUIREMENT FRIENDLY

I noticed that someone mentioned limiting to certain charts. I have had that type of control in other systems because the charts could be grouped as being owned by a specific licensed provider.

We can not find anything in this system that allows such grouping. A chart seems to be owned by the last person who views it and ALL USERS ARE LABELED PROVIDERS although they may be front desk people.

I AGREE with the people who desire better granularity when it can be accomplished. It is a wonderful tool to be able to create your own sets of permissions, assign them to a group and then move users in and out of the group to grant or restrict access. From a practical standpoint, I can not visualize any way that you could limit to certain charts, only certain chart sections unless a CHART RATING option were added. Currently there is no way to differentiate one chart from another except by the Demographics. View only people born between certain dates is not that useful for most. View all women? View all men? These do not seem to have that much utility.

For security and regulatory purposes, the Practice Fusion EHR will auto-lock and require password to be unlocked after a period of idle time. Currently, this timer is set to 15 minutes because certain states require the time to be 15 minutes at minimum. We are investigating ways to improve this security feature, which may include customization in the future.
